Tranquil Sole Massage

Frequently asked questions about massage

Where exactly are you located? 7578 Nose Lake Road, Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

What type of massage do you offer? I have training in Classic Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Cupping, Fijian, Table Thai and my favorite, AshiatsuSarga Bodywork added October 2018. My massages are often a mix of some or all of these modalities.

Do you charge extra for cupping or other modalities? Nope. I don’t even generally know what I’ll be doing for you until you’re here and we make a plan, so if I/we choose to incorporate cupping, hot stone, or deep tissue – it’s all included.

Do you offer mobile services? In some cases. I recommend contacting me at least 6 months prior to your event.

Are tips expected? Appreciated, but never expected.

What is your sick policy? If you or an immediate family member has been sick in the last 48 hours, please reschedule your appointment. If a fever was involved, do not reschedule before the fever has been gone for at least 24 hours. If you are sick on the day of your massage, contact me via Facebook, text, or phone to cancel. My standard cancellation policy of 24 hours will not apply in the case of illness.

What should I wear? During the massage, you will be draped with sheets/blankets except for the area being worked on. Most people wear comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing and during the massage either wear  nothing at all. The important thing is your comfort. Wear as much or as little as you’d like. Note: for Ashiatsu massage, completely undressed is preferable. You will still be covered by linens except for the area being worked on. I will leave the room while you undress/dress. I do offer a couple of fully-clothed options – chair massage or Fijian, which requires you to be able to lie on a mat on the floor while you receive a deep tissue massage through your clothing. I get it! I’d hate to see people not getting massage because they don’t want to undress. It’s all good.

What will I be doing during the massage? For the most part, deeply relaxing. I will reposition head, arms, and legs as necessary. If I need your participation to assist in a muscle release, I will communicate that to you. Some folks like to chat, but most enjoy the down time. Some fall asleep (don’t worry, I will wake you up eventually!).

How often should I get a massage, and for how long? For maintenance, monthly is great. Otherwise, weekly or every other week if you have a particular concern we’re working on. I’m a fan of the 90 minute length, so that I can really work into the areas that need extra attention as well as give a full body massage. To help the results of your massage last, incorporate stretches and be sure to drink extra water afterwards (and mind your hydration every day ;-).

What if I burp/fart/snore/drool during the massage? Congratulations on being a human 😉 Doesn’t phase me.

Are the sheets clean? Of course! Between clients, all surfaces are wiped down and the table is dressed with clean sheets, face rest cover, and clean coverings on the hot packs.

What is your massage table’s weight capacity? 2500 pounds

What types of payment do you accept? All of them 🙂 Including American Express.

Will you donate to my fundraiser? Please see my policy regarding donations here.

Are you going to talk about your personal life during my massage? Nope! You are not my therapist! I’ve had massages in the past and it was a big deal for me to spend the money, and then the therapist, who I didn’t even know, went on and on about her new boyfriend. I needed to be nurtured at that time. I will let you decide whether you want conversation, but I find it easier for clients to receive the full benefit of massage if we’re quiet. If it pertains to your body or your massage, I will speak up. Other than that, here’s what people might want to know: Yes, I’m happily married. I have the sweetest and most supportive husband I could ever imagine. I have 3 adult children from a previous marriage. I’m in my mid-40’s. I’m very content and fulfilled in my life. I practice self-care in the way of moving my body, meditation, and getting out in nature as much as possible – preferably with my dogs. I absolutely love mountain biking, trail running and yoga. I also cross-country ski, snowshoe, and kayak. Once in awhile I take a longer bike adventure on the road. Besides Willow and Kyah the dogs, we enjoy the companionship of 2 cats. I believe that taking good care of myself with nourishing foods and movement I enjoy helps me to be more present for my clients.  I want for you to leave feeling heard, tended to, nurtured, and with a renewed sense of well-being.
